Health Insurance

Employee Paid Supplemental Insurance Option

Flexible Spending Account

Employees who work 20 or more hours per week may enroll in a Flexible Spending Account. The FSA is an account that allows you to pay for co-pays, prescriptions, OTC medications, glasses, and more with your pre-tax dollars. Information available on how to open an FSA is available at the Human Resources office.


OHC recognizes 8 holidays: New Years Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Employees that work on the holiday receive time and one half their rate of pay.

Life Insurance

Employees who work 30 or more hours per week receive a company paid $10,000 life insurance policy.

Tuition Reimbursement

Up to 2 classes per year for Full time; 1 class per year for part time. Available after 1 year of employment.

Pay in Lieu of Benefits

Must work 30 or more hours per week to receive 13% more to base pay and waive the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Life and Disability Insurances, Tuition Reimbursement, Earned Time, and Bereavement Leave.

Earned Time

Employees that have scheduled hours of 20 hours or more per week accrue earned time each week for hours worked up to 40 in that week.Once the employee has completed 90 days of service, the accrued time is made available and is calculated back to date of hire. Earned time is to be used for vacation, days off and holidays not worked if you do not work your scheduled hours. Accrual policy is based on a percentage of those hours worked which is determined by length of service. The maximum accrual is 200 hours. The following formula is for hourly staff and is based on years of service and used for determining how much time you will have available:

Vacation Accrual for 0-5 yrs = .0607 per hour worked (approximately 2.43 hours for a 40 hour work week)
Vacation Accrual for 5-10 yrs = .0907 per hour worked (Approximately 3.63 hours for a 40 hour work week)
Vacation Accrual for 10+ yrs = .1107 per hour worked (Approximately 4.43 hours for a 40 hour work week)

Sick Time

All hourly employees accrue sick time at a rate of .03335 for each hour worked. Maximum accrual is 40 hours per year.

Employee Referral Bonus

The purpose of the Employee Referral Bonus Program is to provide an incentive award to a current employee who brings new talent by referring applicants who are subsequently selected and successfully employed. See Human Resources for more information.

Cash Out

Hourly staff can cash out a maximum of 40 hours of Earned Time per calendar year.

Supplemental Insurance

Short Term Disability, Cancer and Accident insurances available through Colonial Life. Employee paid through payroll deduction available to employees working 20 or more hours per week.

Retirement Program

401k retirement program that allows salary deferral on a Pre-Tax basis. All employees over the age of 21 are allowed to contribute. OHC offers a matching contribution. Roth IRA is also available.

Employee Assistance Program

A free benefit available to all employees and/or immediate family members, living in the household. The service is confidential. EAP has been established with UNUM to provide counseling for employees and family members on a wide range of personal problems including: Marital, Parent/Child, Alcohol Abuse, Drug Abuse, Financial Difficulties, Stress/Anxiety and Depression. EAP services include initial assessment, short-term counseling, referral and follow-up. Toll free number is 1-800-854-1446. Bereavement Leave

For the purposes of attending a funeral or memorial service for an immediate family member, a paid absence of  up to three days (8 hours per day is the maximum benefit) will be provided to you.

A one day paid absence (scheduled work day) will be provided for attending the funeral or memorial service for the following relations grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, aunts, uncles, step-relatives, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and children-in-law, niece or nephew.

Family Medical Leave

Available after 1 year of employment and must work a minimum of 1,250 hours in the prior year. This time frame is based on a rolling calendar year.

Discounted Uniforms at the Uniform Outlet

Payroll deduction available after 3 months of employment.

Fitness Concepts

Located on Main Street next to Subway. Group discounts available for Oriol Health Care employees.
