National Contest Win Benefits Oriol Health Care Patients Through Technology

July 29, 2019/in News/by Angelique Harvey

HOLDEN — It was Christmas in July last week for Oriol Health Care.

The company has won a $30,000 Workplace Makeover contest sponsored by PCM, a provider of IT products and service, and Intel, a multinational technology company and semiconductor chip manufacturer.

Beth Cogavin, Oriol’s Chief Financial Officer, saw the contest online last year when she was looking for a new laptop for her daughter on the PCM website.

At a monthly security meeting, Oriol Health Care CEO Robert Oriol had just said the company needed to put aside $30,000 to reinvest in technology.

“I was thinking, $30,000 — just what we need,” Cogavin said. “I sat down and wrote an essay that truly came from the heart.”

Childhood Pals Turned WWII Vets From Worcester Reunite After 70+ Years

February 25, 2019/in News/by Angelique Harvey

WEST BOYLSTON – There was something about the two World War II veterans’ stories that seemed so similar to Becky Gardner, a social worker at the Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. After discreetly working to get the pair together, the men immediately recognized each other, though they hadn’t seen one another in more than 70 years since leaving grade school.

Reunited, they now reminisce for hours like schoolkids, again, including about when they used to hop the trolley to go to the Boys Club in Worcester.

Frank J. Musci, 94, of Auburn, and Anthony J. Polito Sr., 94, of Worcester, grew up in the same neighborhood in Worcester, Mr. Musci on Belmont Street and Mr. Polito on Crescent Street, first attending Adams Street School together, then East Kendall Street School, they said, from kindergarten through Grade 8. Though it is emotionally difficult, as it is for many WWII veterans, to share what they went through serving during the war, both smile and laugh when they share childhood memories.
