Mountview Inclusive Education: Supporting Students Through the Oriol Foundation Grant

Mountview inclusive education is at the heart of a meaningful new initiative supported by the Oriol Foundation. Last week, we visited Mountview Middle School to present the first Accessibility Grant for Neurological Inclusion.

This visit was more than a milestone. It was a chance to see how inclusive education works in real life—and how the right resources can make a difference for students every day.

💜 A Closer Look at Mountview Inclusive Education

Mountview Middle School, led by Principal C. Erik Githmark and Assistant Principal Karen Hughes, provides thoughtful support through its Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC).

The TLC serves students with autism, trauma-related needs, and other neurological challenges. These students move between specialized support and general education classrooms throughout the day.

Because of this, they need tools that help them transition, reset, and stay engaged.

🧠 How the Grant Supports Students

The Oriol Foundation grant will help fund sensory tools such as:

  • Fidgets
  • Soft lighting
  • White noise machines
  • Sensory supports for calming and focus

These tools help students regulate their environment. They also reduce stress and improve focus.

As shared in the school’s application:

“Providing access to sensory tools helps reduce overstimulation, alleviate anxiety, and support students in remaining calm, focused, and engaged—allowing for fuller participation in the classroom and with their peers.”

This approach strengthens Mountview inclusive education by removing barriers and supporting student success.

🌍 Why Inclusive Education Matters

Inclusive education ensures that every student has access to learning, connection, and growth.

The Oriol Foundation created this grant to support schools and organizations that are working to build more accessible environments. These efforts support individuals living with neurological conditions such as autism, ADHD, and other sensory or cognitive challenges.

🤝 A Meaningful Beginning

During our visit, David Oriol and Nathan Oriol presented the award in person.

“We are proud to recognize Mountview Middle School as the first recipient of this grant,” said David Oriol.

This moment represents the start of something bigger.

“This is a meaningful beginning for the Oriol Foundation,” said Nathan Oriol. “We are proud to launch this as an annual initiative.”

💜 Looking Ahead

Mountview inclusive education is just one example of how communities can come together to support students.

The Oriol Foundation looks forward to expanding this program and supporting more initiatives that promote accessibility, inclusion, and connection.

Because when we invest in inclusive education, we strengthen our entire community.

💜 Our family taking care of yours.
