Building Foundations of Caregiving: Free Alzheimer’s Association Program Hosted by the Oriol Foundation
Thursday, October 22, 2026 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center | 32 Mayo Drive, Holden, MA
Free & Open to the Community
Caring for someone you love can bring rewarding moments, difficult decisions and plenty of questions. Whether you are new to caregiving or have supported a loved one for years, reliable information can help. A strong network of support can make a difference, too.
The Oriol Foundation invites caregivers, families and community members to Building Foundations of Caregiving on Thursday, October 22, from 6:00–7:30 PM.
The Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter will present this free educational program. Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, an Oriol Health Care facility, is supporting the event and providing the location.
Building a Stronger Foundation for Caregiving
The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. In addition, the organization provides support and resources for people living with dementia, their caregivers and families.
However, you do not need to be caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease to benefit from this program.
Perhaps you are helping an aging parent manage changes in health or independence. You may be supporting a spouse through memory or cognitive changes. Or, you may simply be taking on more responsibility for someone you love.
Whatever your caregiving journey looks like, this program can help you build a stronger foundation.
Building Foundations of Caregiving offers an opportunity to learn and ask questions. You can also connect with others and discover helpful caregiver resources.
Who Can Benefit?
This free community program may be helpful for:
- Family caregivers supporting an aging loved one
- Spouses or partners providing care
- Adult children helping a parent
- Those caring for someone experiencing memory or cognitive changes
- Families affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia
- New caregivers who aren’t sure where to begin
- Experienced caregivers looking for additional education and support
- Anyone who wants to prepare for a future caregiving role
Most importantly, you do not need to have all the answers before attending. This program is an opportunity to learn, connect and become better informed.
There is no cost to attend. Advance registration is requested.

Supporting Caregivers Throughout the Wachusett Community
Caregiver support is an important part of the Oriol Foundation’s commitment to enriching the Wachusett community.
Throughout the year, the Foundation offers free caregiver peer support groups. These groups give caregivers a welcoming place to connect with people who understand the caregiving experience.
Currently, caregiver peer support groups meet in Holden and Sterling. As a result, local caregivers can find support and connection close to home.
The Foundation also offers grief peer support groups. These groups provide connection and understanding through loss, transition and other difficult experiences.
In addition, programs such as Building Foundations of Caregiving bring trusted education directly into our community. By collaborating with organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, the Foundation connects families with valuable information and support.
The Oriol Foundation’s work extends beyond caregiver and grief support. The Foundation also invests in scholarships, community health and wellness programs, educational events and community outreach. In addition, its Accessibility Grant for Neurological Inclusion helps advance greater inclusion within our community.
Together, these programs reflect the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to individuals, caregivers and families throughout the Greater Wachusett area.
