Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing: Proudly Holding a Five-Star Quality Rating from CMS.gov

June 24, 2024/in News, Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Uncategorized/by Angelique Harvey

Oakdale 360º Virtual Tour

At Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, an Oriol Health Care facility, we are proud to announce that we have achieved a Five-Star Quality Rating from CMS.gov (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) through their Care Compare program. This prestigious rating reflects our commitment to providing the highest standard of care to our residents. In this blog post, we will delve into what the Five-Star Quality Rating System entails, why it matters, and how Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing has earned this esteemed recognition.

Understanding the Five-Star Quality Rating System

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. The system assigns a rating between one and five stars to nursing homes, with five stars indicating the highest level of quality. The overall rating is based on three key domains:

  1. Health Inspections:
    • This domain assesses the findings from state inspections over the past three years, focusing on health, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
  2. Staffing:
    • This rating evaluates the number of hours of care provided on average to each resident each day by nursing staff. A higher staffing level generally indicates better quality of care.
  3. Quality Measures:
    • This area looks at various clinical data regarding the residents’ physical and clinical conditions, including their ability to perform daily activities and their general health status.

Why the Five-Star Quality Rating Matters

The Five-Star Quality Rating System serves as an important tool for families and caregivers seeking the best possible care for their loved ones. A five-star rating signifies excellence in health care services, ensuring peace of mind for families that their loved ones are in capable and caring hands. It also reflects a facility’s dedication to continuous improvement and adherence to the highest standards in health care.

Oriol Health Care Announces Expansion of Health Services in Holden

June 11, 2024/in Community, News, Press Releases/by Angelique Harvey

The Oriol family announces the first step of its expansion at their Holden Campus.  Founded by Eugene Oriol of Holden, Oriol has been serving the community since 1964. Oriol owns and operates Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Oriol Home Health,  and Oriol Outpatient Therapy. Oriol is a recognized healthcare leader in both the Worcester and Wachusett communities and throughout New England.

Since acquiring the former Holden District Hospital property, Oriol has demonstrated its commitment to the community by providing, improving, and expanding public access to health care services on the site.

Commencing later this month, work will begin on utility upgrades and site improvements on the upper portion of the Holden campus. This work is associated with the proposed renovations and reuse of the former hospital building. During this time, temporary changes to vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns may occur. Oriol asks the public to exercise extreme caution while visiting the site.

Oriol will collaborate with local, regional, and state planning and economic development officials. In addition, Oriol will be consulting engineers and community focus groups, in preparing plans for future development of the campus.
