National Honor Recognizes Holden Rehabilitation’s Commitment to Quality Care

Holden earns the 2026 AHCA/NCAL Silver National Quality Award, one of the nation’s highest honors for long-term care providers.

HOLDEN, Mass. — July 13, 2026 — Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center has received one of the nation’s highest honors for quality in long-term care, earning the 2026 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

The Silver – Achievement in Quality Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate systematic growth in quality care through proven approaches, measurable outcomes, and a commitment to continuous organizational improvement. It is the second of three progressive levels within the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program and is based on the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework.

For more than 62 years, Holden Rehabilitation has served Central Massachusetts as part of the family-owned and operated Oriol Health Care organization. Guided by the promise, “Our family taking care of yours,” Holden continues to invest in its people, clinical programs, facilities, and resident experience while remaining focused on compassionate, person-centered care.

“This award reflects the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of every member of the Holden Rehabilitation team,” said Tara D’Andrea, MBA, NHA, FACHCA, Administrator of Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. “Every department contributes to the experience our residents and families have each day. This recognition belongs to our entire team, whose commitment to quality and continuous improvement makes achievements like this possible.”

The national recognition is the latest achievement in a remarkable year for Holden Rehabilitation. Earlier this year, Administrator Tara D’Andrea, MBA, NHA, FACHCA, received the Distinguished Nursing Home Administrator Award from the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA), one of the profession’s highest individual honors.

Holden Rehabilitation continues to strengthen its commitment to excellence through investments in specialized clinical programs and resident-centered care. Recent milestones include becoming Central Massachusetts’ first Joint Commission Post-Acute Care (PAC) Certified Skilled Nursing Facility, expanding specialized services through the Wachusett Respiratory Care Unit, earning recognition as a 2026 Partner in Wound Care Excellence, and launching Oriol Therapy Services, in partnership with Preferred Therapy Solutions, to enhance both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.

Beyond clinical excellence, Holden continues investing in the overall resident experience through engaging therapeutic and recreational programming, refreshed outdoor courtyards, welcoming gathering spaces, and amenities that promote healing, independence, and quality of life. Those efforts have also been recognized nationally through the 2026 Activated Insights Customer Experience Award, honoring excellence in resident and family satisfaction.

The center’s commitment extends beyond its campus through active community partnerships and the work of The Oriol Foundation, which supports caregiver education, scholarships, support groups, community wellness initiatives, and innovative programs that strengthen Central Massachusetts.

“Awards like this are meaningful because they recognize the work our team does every day—but they also remind us of the responsibility we carry,” said Nathan Oriol, Vice President of Operations for Oriol Health Care. “For more than 62 years, families have trusted us during some of life’s most important moments. Every generation of our organization has believed that trust must be earned each day through compassion, integrity, and a commitment to continually improving the care we provide. This recognition honors the incredible Holden team who brings that commitment to life every day, and it inspires us to keep building on that legacy for the future.”

The Silver Award joins a growing list of national and regional recognitions earned by Holden Rehabilitation, including Joint Commission Accreditation, U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home recognition for both Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, the Activated Insights Customer Experience Award, multiple Best of Your Hometown honors, and numerous clinical quality distinctions.

Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center will be formally recognized during Delivering Solutions 26, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, October 11–14, 2026, in Boston, where quality award recipients from across the country will be honored.
